Our Privacy Commitment

Your privacy matters to us. Lumen Guard stores its display settings locally. Its free version uses Google Mobile Ads, which processes certain information to provide, measure, and protect advertising. This policy explains both practices.

This Privacy Policy explains how Lumen Guard ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). By using Lumen Guard, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information Collection Overview

Lumen Guard has two separate data practices:

Core app settings: filter preferences, scenes, schedules, and related local settings are kept on the device.
Advertising: the free version uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK for banner ads and optional rewarded ads. Google processes data as described in the advertising section below.
Premium: premium removes the app's advertising placements. Google Play still processes purchase information under its own privacy policy.

Information We (Lumen Guard) DO NOT Collect

Lumen Guard does not ask you to create an account or directly collect the following through its core display controls:

Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
Precise location data
Screen content or screenshots
Browsing history or the content of other apps

Important: Google's Mobile Ads SDK has its own data practices. The SDK data is described below and must be considered separately from the locally stored app settings.

Data Storage

App settings and preferences are stored locally on your device. This data includes:

Dim and warmth level preferences
Custom scene configurations
Schedule settings
App configuration options, including notification and widget preferences

These local settings are removed if you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. This does not control data processed independently by Google or Google Play.

Permissions We Require

Lumen Guard requires the following Android permissions to function:

1. SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW (Draw Over Other Apps)

This permission is essential for Lumen Guard to display the dimming overlay on top of other applications. This is the core functionality that allows the app to dim your screen and apply the blue light filter system-wide.

2. FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE

These permissions allow Lumen Guard to keep the active overlay available while you switch to other apps. They are used for the filter service, not to read screen content.

3. Notifications, boot recovery, Internet, and Google Play Billing

Notifications are optional and are used for filter status and optional reminders. Boot recovery lets enabled schedules be restored after a restart. Internet access supports Google Mobile Ads and Google Play billing. Google Play Billing is used only when you choose to make a premium purchase.

Important: “Display over other apps” is required for the filter to work. Notification access is optional. The app does not use overlay access to capture screen content.

Advertising and Third-Party Services

Third-Party Advertising (Free Version Only)

The free version of Lumen Guard displays banner ads and offers optional rewarded ads through Google Mobile Ads. Google may process information to provide advertising, measure performance, and prevent fraud.

Information Collected by Advertising Networks

The current Google Mobile Ads SDK automatically collects and shares the following categories for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention:

IP address: which may be used to estimate the device's general location.
Product interactions: including app launches, taps, ad views, and other ad interactions.
Diagnostic information: such as app and SDK performance information.
Device and account identifiers: including the Android advertising ID, app set ID, and applicable signed-in account identifiers.

Purpose of Data Collection

Google uses this information to:

Deliver relevant advertisements to you
Measure ad performance and engagement
Detect and prevent fraud
Improve advertising services
Comply with legal obligations

Google Mobile Ads

Lumen Guard currently uses Google Mobile Ads. Google explains its data handling and advertising practices in the resources below:

Your Advertising Choices

Where required, Lumen Guard presents Google's consent form. If Google requires a persistent privacy-options entry point, it appears in the app under Settings → Privacy choices, where you can update your advertising choices. You can also use Android and Google controls for your advertising ID.

How to Opt-Out of Personalized Ads on Android:

Open your device Settings
Go to Privacy → Ads (or Google → Ads)
Review the available ad-privacy controls
Reset or delete your advertising ID if that option is available on your device

Note: Opting out means you'll still see ads, but they won't be personalized based on your interests.

Additional opt-out options:

Remove Ads Entirely - Upgrade to Premium

Premium removes Lumen Guard's in-app advertising placements. It does not change Google Play's separate handling of purchase information. Premium users receive:

Zero ads - No advertisements whatsoever
Plus all premium features (unlimited scenes, advanced scheduling, etc.)

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We want to be completely transparent about when and how data is shared:

Data Shared by Lumen Guard

We do not operate a user account, profile, or separate analytics service for Lumen Guard's core controls. Google receives SDK data when ads are requested or displayed, as described in its privacy documentation.

Data Shared by Advertising Networks

Google may share data with:

Advertising Partners: Ad networks that bid to show you advertisements
Analytics Providers: To measure ad performance and campaign effectiveness
Fraud Prevention Services: To detect and prevent invalid ad traffic
Service Providers: Companies that help operate the advertising platform

Circumstances for Data Disclosure

Data may be disclosed in the following limited circumstances:

Legal Compliance: When required by law, court order, or government request
Safety and Security: To protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public
Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (users will be notified)
With Consent: With your explicit consent for specific purposes

Internet Permission

Lumen Guard requires the INTERNET permission for Google Mobile Ads in the free version and Google Play billing. This permission allows Google services to:

Download and display ad content
Communicate with advertising servers
Report ad performance metrics

Premium version note: Premium removes the app's advertising placements. Google Play billing continues to be governed by Google's own terms and privacy policy.

In-App Purchases

Lumen Guard offers an optional premium upgrade through Google Play's in-app purchase system. When you make a purchase:

The transaction is processed entirely by Google Play
We do not receive or store your payment information
Google Play's privacy policy governs the collection and use of payment data
We only receive a confirmation that the purchase was successful

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Lumen Guard is not designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information through the app's core controls from children under 13.

Advertising data is handled by Google under its own privacy policy and applicable controls.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly, contact us so we can review the request.

Data Security

We take data security seriously:

Local settings: display preferences are kept in the app's local storage.
Advertising data: Google states that data collected by its Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit using TLS.
Third-party security: Google maintains its own security practices. Review Google's privacy documentation for details.

No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security. Please review Google's privacy policy for advertising and billing data.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. If we make significant changes, we will:

Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
Make the revised policy available on this page

Your continued use of Lumen Guard after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

Regarding Lumen Guard Data

Delete all app data by uninstalling Lumen Guard
Clear app settings through your device's app settings
Reset to default settings within the app

Regarding Advertising Data

Opt-out of personalized ads: Use your device's ad settings (see "Your Advertising Choices" section above)
Reset advertising ID: Clear your ad profile through device settings
Delete advertising data: Contact the advertising networks directly or use industry opt-out tools
Request information: Contact advertising networks through their privacy portals for data access requests

GDPR Rights (EU Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under GDPR:

Right to access: Request information about data collected about you
Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
Right to erasure: Request deletion of your data
Right to restriction: Request limitation of data processing

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

Right to know: Request details about data collected, used, or shared
Right to delete: Request deletion of personal information
Right to opt-out: Opt-out of the "sale" of personal information (ad targeting)
Right to non-discrimination: Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights

To manage targeted-ad preferences, use the in-app Privacy choices entry when available or the controls in your Android and Google settings.

Compliance

We review this policy and the app's Play Console data-safety disclosure as the app and its SDKs change. Google Mobile Ads provides its own information about applicable privacy controls.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the EU/EEA, Google collects consent through the Google User Messaging Platform where its privacy message is required. Do not rely on this page as legal advice about your individual rights.

You may change eligible advertising choices in the app's Privacy choices screen when it is available.
You may use Google's and Android's privacy controls as described above.

Data Retention

Lumen Guard: Settings stored locally are deleted when you uninstall the app
Google services: retention is governed by Google's applicable policies.

International Data Transfers

Google may process data on servers outside your country. See Google's privacy policy for information about international processing and safeguards.
